Welcome to the new RyeBand.com

After years (not hyperbole) of trying to figure out how to build a website that looked sweet and was functional, we have come to the conclusion that we should make music and not try to write html code, or whatever it’s called.  So, with great pride, we would like to announce that this is now www.ryeband.com.  Wait… isn’t it the same as the blog?  Yeah, it is.  But now you don’t have to remember any crazy web address to get here, just ryeband.com.  And now we don’t have to wait a year to update things, which is nice for everyone.  We will continue to expand the site to make it the kind of site that you check as frequently as you check facebook, at least that’s the plan.

Also, we are pleased to announce some new fall dates that have been added to our calendar.  These shows are really going to be built around songwriting.  As you may know by now, we reformed the band this summer, and that wasn’t easy.  Since then, we have been working at getting back up to full steam.  We hired musicians for a few shows and while that is a ton of fun, we also have to make a lot of money just to break even.  And since our goal has always been to make as much music as possible, we were in a place where we couldn’t book enough gigs to be playing as much as we want to play.  What we realized was that Jonathan and I started this band as a duo and it was time to go back to that.  And after a couple of hours jamming, we realized that whatever mojo we brought with a full band was equally as strong as a duo.  So we’re excited to be doing shows as a duo for now and excited that it brings the focus totally to the music.  If you like big production, flashing lights, and fog machines then you probably won’t like it.  But if you like real music, rock and roll, and songs that mean something, I think you’re going to dig it.

Welcome to the next chapter friends.
